Structure of the diploma in Mechanical Engineering (from 1st to 5th years)

1. First Year – Common Core : A shared foundational year for all INSA students, focused on mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, and languages, to build academic rigor and introduce the engineering mindset.

2. Second and Third Years – Pre-Orientation in IC (Ingénieur de Construction) : Common to both Civil and Mechanical Engineering students, this phase offers multidisciplinary courses in applied mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, structures, and systems. Students participate in engineering projects and teamwork exercises, preparing them to choose a specialization at the end of the third year.

3. Fourth and Fifth Years (Mechanical Engineering) – students choose between two specialization tracks:

  • Mechanical Engineering : Focus on mechanical design, manufacturing processes, materials, structural analysis, thermomechanics, and digital tools. Flowchart of courses
  • Systems Engineering : Focus on mechatronics, system modeling and simulation, control systems, embedded systems, and multidisciplinary integration. Flow-chart of courses
